Instead, the cotton production relies on insect traps and co-planting that increases plant diversity - cow poo is added as a \u201csecret\u201d ingredient that further supports biodiversity in the fields.<\/p>

Cotton farming is very water demanding and can be a source of water shortages and even drought. The cotton is farmed in North India where the heavy rainfall of the monsoon fills reservoirs that supply almost all the water needed.<\/p>
